Covid-19: Another 2,328 new cases bring total to 4,787,308


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,328 new Covid-19 cases on Friday (Sept 2), says the Health Ministry.

According to the ministry's CovidNow portal, 2,325 of the new Covid-19 infections in the country were local transmissions, while there were three imported cases.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 4,787,308 cases since the pandemic began.

There are 31,164 active Covid-19 cases nationwide, 1,305 of whom require hospitalisation.

Of this number, 79 are receiving treatment in intensive care units, comprising 44 requiring breathing assistance and 35 unventilated.

A vast majority of those infected are being quarantined at home (29,761 or 95.5% of all cases), with nineteen in quarantine centres.

A total of nine deaths were recorded on Friday, with three classified as being brought in dead, bringing the total to 36,234.
